The Halloween Event of 2023 is an event that began October 27th, 2023, at 4:00 PM EST. It ended November 17th, 2023, at 3:00 PM EST.
Event[]
Pre-event[]
Part One[]

In-game countdown
On October 13th, at 4:00 PM EST, a 14-day countdown was set up in Origins to prepare for the event's official release. In addition, Origins and Grassland were decorated for Halloween and had a dark night sky that lasted for the duration of the event.
During this time, players had the opportunity to help Pooki with his dilemma, which involved finding a key that would eventually open the sepulcher. The key was revealed in a stream to have a 1% chance of dropping, however, its chance was buffed when Part Two of the mini-event released.
- “Hello Adventurer! I've been trying to bust my way into the Sepulchre. Apparently there is treasure inside!”
- “Problem is, I lost the key in one of those giant pumpkins! Silly me.”
- “If you could, dash into the pumpkins to smash them to bits, and help me find the key.”
- “Help me find the key, and I'll let you share the treasure with me.”
If the player obtained the Pumpkin Key, Pooki would say the following:
- “Great, you found the key!”
- “Get ready for Part 2 next week to help me open this. Who knows what treasure we'll find inside?!”
The player could obtain the Pumpkin Key and other special items by smashing pumpkins around the map. Pumpkins had 3,000 health and could be smashed by dashing into them: each successful dash dealt 1,000 damage. Only players who had smashed a pumpkin at least once would be entitled to its rewards.

Part Two[]
On October 20th, at around 3:13 PM EST, players gained the ability to open the sepulcher only if they obtained the Pumpkin Key.
Once the sepulcher was opened, several ghosts would fly out of it and into three different worlds. The player was able to catch a new one (excluding the Menacing Ghost) every 24 hours.
A ghost would spawn in one of many set locations in its respective world and would move locations around every 2 minutes. They emitted fog particles and made ghoulish sounds when the player was nearby. If the player found the ghost, they would be given a base building version of it. The player could only catch one of each ghost.
The player would be directed to speak to Pooki upon entering the game during Part Two of the countdown if they had the Pumpkin Key.
- “Great, you found the key!”
- “Insert the key into the door and lets get this bread!”
- “Great, the key is in. Let's open this treasure!”
- “Zoinks Scoob! That wasn't treasure, they're Ghosts!”
- “We gotta put the ghosts back in the sepculchre, find one every day hidden in one of the worlds!”
If the player found a ghost in Origins, Pooki would say the following:
- “You found the ghost!”
- “Return to me for some more clues!”
If the player found a ghost in the Undercity or Grassland, Pooki would say the following:
- “You found the ghost!”
- “Return to me in Origins for more clues!”
If the player found every ghost, Pooki would say the following:
- “GREAT JOB! You found all the ghosts!”
- “Return to me for your reward!”
If the player spoke to Pooki after finding every ghost, he would say the following:
- “Great job, you have found all the ghosts and you now have +10% bonus to Halloween Candy!”

It consists of one main island with several smaller ones breaking off from it. It featured orange and green pine trees and large dead trees. Several pumpkins and mushrooms were also littered around the world, and small ponds and a single river also covered the world's surface.
A giant, medieval castle rested at the center of world, with tall walls separating it from the ground. A stone bridge led the World Teleporter to the entrance of the open castle, and inside was where the event's stores were located. Door were present on the inside of the castle and players were able to Trick-or-Treat at them. Candelabras and pennant banners were also present. Random Events[]
Random events functioned much like minigames, however, they had no designated site for players to join.
Only two random events were featured during the event:
Ghost Catcher was one of two random events.
All players in the server would have 4 minutes to catch as many ghosts as they could. Ghosts would follow one of several organized paths. Each ghost caught would count as one point. The player who caught the most ghosts would be placed in 1st place.

Paranox Boss[]
The Paranox Boss was introduced in Part Three and its boss entrance could be located behind The Mansion Hall door underneath the castle.
In order to open the door, the player would have to catch four special keys that ghosts flew around with. Only one ghost would be present at a time with a key. The keys could be inserted into The Mansion Hall chest, which was situated in front of the Event Shop. Each time the player put a key in, a server-wide message would be sent:
- “The first tablet acquired, darkness stirs in the depths.”
- “As the second tablet is found, a shadow appears on the wall.”
- “With the third tablet, the cursed spirits whisper in anticipation.”
- “The final tablet in hand, an ancient fury awakens.”
A server announcement would also be sent out, reading:
- [BOSS]: The Boss Door has opened!
After all four keys were inserted, the chest would open, and the player would be able to use it to teleport to The Mansion Hall, which held the Paranox boss queue.
Entering the queue ring would initiate a 30-second countdown, allowing up to multiple players to be able to fight the Paranox boss. The following server announcement would also be made:
- [BOSS]: The Boss queue has started!
Once the countdown was up, the door behind would close and players would be teleported to a massive hall, and the following server announcement would be made:
- [BOSS]: The Boss fight has started!
The hall was long and massive and was decorated with windows, both boarded up and un-boarded, along its walls. Red curtains accompanied each window alongside tall candlesticks, carved pumpkins, scattered books and papers, and coffins. Between each window was a torn red tapestry. At one end of the hall was the entrance door, with a famous painting situated on each of its sides. At the other end was a giant, ominous red portal with black blobs of slime with eyes in it around it.
Rounds[]
During the first round, the Paranox boss would reveal itself after coming out of the large door. It was unable to be damaged when it first uncloaked itself. After this, the player would only be able to attack it when it was uncloaked. After a few seconds, the Paranox boss would sink into the ground and reappear somewhere else in the hall, even if it was not attacked. For every time it reappeared, it would create one danger zone that would burn the player if they were in it when it burst.
If the first third of the Paranox's health bar was cleared, round two would start.
Round two began with the Paranox creating multiple cloaked copies of itself around the hall. If the player attacked a copy of the true Paranox, it would "POOF". If the true Paranox was hit first, all of the Paranox copies would disappear, and all of the danger zones would be initiated at once. In addition, some of the burn attacks of the danger zones would be more deadly and appear red instead of blue. After around ten seconds, whether the player had found and attacked the true Paranox or not, the Paranox(es) would sink into the ground and replay the process over again.
If the second third of the Paranox's health bar was cleared, round three would start.
Round three would begin with a short pause after the previously defeated Paranox sunk into the ground again. It would appear cloaked at one end of the hall and waves of tall red and blue fires would make their way to the opposite end of the hall. The first wave of red fire would disappear a short way away from the opposite end, however the rest of the fire waves would not stop and would need to be maneuvered around. Red fire dealt more damage than blue fire. If the player was able to make it to the other end to the now uncloaked Paranox, they would be able to attack it for a bit before it teleported back to the other end and repeated the process.
If the player was successful in killing the Paranox boss, it would drop down onto its side and the boss fight would end. The player was guaranteed to be rewarded one Tomb Egg and an additional reward that could be any of the following:
- 500 Candy
- 1 adult Dysuva
- 1 Mutation Potion
- 1 adult Paranox
- 1 Spider Egg
- 1 Tomb Egg
- 1 Vampire Potion
Title[]
If the player successfully defeated the Paranox boss 10 times, they would be rewarded with the Paranox Punisher title.

An everlasting flame is present atop its head and at the end of its tail.
The Paranox was released in Part Two of the event.
Paukiki[]

The Paukiki has an upright bipedal build that is attached with four arms, two legs, and a pair of large webbed wings. Its head resembles a pumpkin, and long branch-like structures protrude from its head, shoulders, and tail. The Scrawei was released in Part One of the event.
Skelltor[]

The Skelltor is a large, quadrupedal dragon with a completely skeletal appearance. Its body is built up of bones with magic flowing in between its ribs and skull. The Skelltor was released in Part One of the event.
Eggs[]
The exclusive Spider Egg and the Tomb Egg were able to be obtained during the event.
The player was able to spawn the Spider Egg at any Egg Tomb for 300 Candy. The same applied to the Tomb Egg, however it became purchasable in Part Two for 900 Candy. Once an egg was spawned by the player, ghosts would fly off with it and the player would have to catch the ghost by flying into it to obtain their egg.
The Spider Egg was also obtainable from fishing, the Halloween Wheel, the Ghost Catcher and Pumpkin Smasher events, and the Paranox Boss.
The Tomb Egg was also obtainable from the Halloween Wheel, and it had a chance to replace the Spider Egg reward in the Ghost Catcher and Pumpkin Smasher events. It was a guaranteed reward from defeating the Paranox Boss.

Trivia[]
- The 2023 Halloween Event was the fifth Halloween event to take place in Dragon Adventures.
References[]
- ↑ The Ghost Potion seemed to be related to the obtainment of the Pumpkin Key as the player would be awarded a Ghost Potion upon obtaining the key. This does no longer seem to be the case as of October 20th, and the Ghost Potion appears to no longer be obtainable.
