“The Hongliang are kite dragons, they are exceptionally fast and agile in the air. They live on the highest peaks of the mountains, where they take advantage of the air currents to glide and soar through the skies. These dragons can be seen once a year, specifically on New Year's, on these dates they can be seen soaring into the sky showing off their beautiful wings painted with striking patterns and performing beautiful dances in the sky.”

The Hongliang was obtainable by completing 10 season pass tiers during Dragon Season 29 as the final reward.
The season lasted through the whole of February 2024.

The Hongliang is able to be bred only with other Hongliangs. It has a 12-hour breeding cooldown and a 25,000 Coin breeding fee.
In addition, the female parent of the offspring will become Soul Bound and thus be unable to be auctioned, bred, or traded.
The same rules apply to Co-Hatching, however both players' parent Hongliangs will become Soul Bound.
The minimum starting bid will be 25,000 Coins.

- The Hongliang was based mainly off of kites.
- The Hongliang's name may be a combination of Chinese 紅 (hóng), meaning "red", and 亮 (liàng), meaning "bright" or "light."
- The Hongliang's original name was Dongfeng, being a portmanteau of the Chinese 東 (dōng), meaning "East", and 風 (fēng), meaning "wind."
- It was the 100th dragon species to be released.
- The Hongliang is tied with the Cirquemaar for having the shortest growth time out of all season dragons.
- The Hongliang was made breedable on February 2nd, 2024, alongside the Avefir, Ayatrice, Cybernid, Eisendrache, Fernifex, Makoura, Noctorius, Nor'gan, Ovicirus, Paukiki, Skelltor, Skriffei, Skyrix, Tarotta, Varana, Vulpiruth, and the Yulereinn with Wave 1 of the breedable Soul Bound dragons.[1]
- The Hongliang is the only season dragon to not reappear in a Dragon Season through the Dragon Pass one year after its original debut. Instead, it was reintroduced in the Lunar New Year Event 2025 and was replaced by the New Year Theme plot in Dragon Season 41 instead.
- The Veidreki also did not return through the Dragon Pass after its first release, however it was not decided if season dragons should return until midway through Dragon Season 13, which would have been the Dragon Season that it returned in.
