Moss, mushrooms, and other plant coverings also adorn its brown body. It has a beige belly and black stripes.

Fight[]

Stage 1 begins with the Prehistoric Boss targeting the player. It will bite the player 2 times before ramming them once. It will continue doing this until a third of its health bar has depleted.

Shadow Altar[]

Shadow Altar

Shadow Altar

The Shadow Altar can be located in the hearth of the volcano and allows players to submit food to raise the amount of Shadow Eggs available. It is a permanent feature that resets weekly every Friday at 2:00 PM EST (3:00 PM EST during daylight saving time).

It was added September 29th, 2023, at around 5:00 PM EST.

Functionality[]

Players are able to donate a select number of different food items in order to receive Shadow Points, which in turn contribute to the Global Offerings to meet Shadow Point milestones at the Shadow Altar. Each completed milestone will release 100 Shadow Eggs to be obtained globally. The milestone requirement will increase each time it is met. There is no limit on how many Shadow Eggs are able to be created.

There is a Shadow Point leaderboard that displays the top 10 contributors to the left of the altar and the player's Shadow Egg spawn chance is shown to the right of the altar. Displayed above the altar is the amount of Shadow Eggs currently available.

Each player has their own personal goal that reflects on their Shadow Egg spawn chance. This percentage can be raised by earning Shadow Points and goes up to 6%. The chance will not reset if a player claims a Shadow Egg. The player's Shadow Egg chance, their Shadow Points, and the Global Offerings goal will reset each week on Friday.

Shadow Eggs[]

Main article: Shadow Egg

Every time the global offerings goal is met, 100 Shadow Eggs will be made obtainable. A Shadow Egg will spawn in for the player only if they are in Prehistoric, their Shadow Egg spawn chance is at least 1%, and there are Shadow Eggs available. Note that the player does not have to be at the Shadow Altar, they only need to be in Prehistoric.

Each player has a 5-minute timer for when their personal Shadow Egg will spawn in for them. If a Shadow Egg spawns, a server announcement will be made in the chat, the Shadow Egg spawn attempt sign will display a Shadow Egg nest, and the player will receive a personal message telling them a Shadow Egg has spawned. The sky will also turn purple and the sound of thunder striking will constantly play, even after the egg is collected.

Shadow Egg nests are denoted by a bright purple outline and resemble the Shadow Altar. The nests do not spawn in regular Prehistoric Egg nest locations.

Dragons[]

The following dragon species are native to Prehistoric:

Zinthros[]

Zinthros Icon

"Deep in the Prehistoric world lurks the Zinthros, a dangerous apex predator. Though flightless, they are both strong and rather fast. For a long time, these powerful dinosaur-like dragons used to be incredibly rare encounter, only appearing to tamers after a sacrifice of Prehistoric Hearts on specific days. While they remain difficult to tame due to their untrusting and nervous nature, they have become much more accustomed to human contact and are valuable companions to those brave enough to tame them. They are primarily carnivores, with fish being one of their favorite and most reliable sources of food. They resort to feeding on plants and fruit only as a last option, although their young often enjoy the cacao beans found all over the Prehistoric islands before they learn to hunt."

Soukeyi[]

Soukeyi Icon

"Soukeyi are characterized as an evasive dragon species, rarely being spotted within the Prehistoric world. They come from the intricate cave systems under the volcano, where archaeologists used to dig before the site was closed. These dig sites are rumored to have been a turning point for their discovery, where the first known sighting of them was when an archaeologist wandered too far down the caves. This dragon species, despite being shy and reluctant at first, will become hostile if cornered. With an intimidating bite strength and thick defensive scales, these carnivores are not to be messed with. Their movements are not fast. but when they feel like it, they'll launch themselves out of the cave entrances to catch prey."

Rhyndac[]

Rhyndac Icon

"The Rhyndac, a dragon with a tall, lofty stature, is a widespread dragon species found in the Prehistoric world. They are commonly found roosting or hanging off of steep cliff faces, where they are usually safe from predators and are surrounded by hundreds of others of their kind. They are primarily carnivorous and prey on small reptiles and fish. Their amenable and curious nature makes them easy to tame. Rhyndacs are known to be devoted to their tamers, although are rather mischievous and may pester them and other tamed dragons. With their long tail and rounded wings, they glide through the air at a decent pace, its attack and defense are somewhat average. However, it has relatively low health, making it a poor combat mount."

Chronocus[]

Chronocus Icon

"The Chronocus is a dragon that proudly watches the Prehistoric lands, known for its bulky proportions and height, but also for its sympathetic nature. These gentle giants feed on natural vegetation as they wander through the world in solitude. Despite their slow speeds in the air, they are not a dragon to underestimate. The overall defensive nature of a Chronocus makes them out to be tough protectors to those who provide for one, with incredible bite strength to pair. In the wild, they serve as a natural guard for the local species of the Prehistoric world. As a sign of respect, these dragons typically return back to the Chronocus bearing small gifts - Ranging from the smallest coconut to the grandest willow leaves."

Eggs[]

Trivia[]

  • Prehistoric was released June 19th, 2020.
  • Prehistoric was the third world released to be unlocked via a mission rather than with coins.
    • To unlock the Prehistoric World, the player would have to be at least Level 35.
      • The first part of the mission featured a platform with a set number of pedestals surrounding its sides. Each pedestal required an Elder world dragon, with all 21 world dragons (excluding world dragons released after Prehistoric) from the preceding worlds needing to be sacrificed. When all 21 of the world dragons were sacrificed, the door to part two would open.
      • The second part of the mission had a tree with four pedestals surrounding it. Each pedestal required 25 of either Hearts of Grass, Ice, Fantasy, or Toxic. These heart resources could be fished up from their respective worlds. When all four of the pedestals were filled up, the third door would open.
      • The third part of the mission required a dragon with the Life element and a dragon with the Death element to be sacrificed. Once both dragons were sacrificed, the player would unlock Prehistoric.
      • Sometime in 2021, this quest room was removed, and Prehistoric became purchasable for 150,000 Coins instead.
  • Prehistoric is currently the only world to host weekly events, including the old Zinthros weekend event and the permanent weekly Shadow Altar feature.

The "sinister plot" message

  • On May 5th, 2024, a message, "A Sinister Plot is Emerging...", was discovered to have replaced the "Sacrifice Food to the Noctorius!" text at the Shadow Altar.[1] The message was likely changed to accommodate the presence of other tribute dragons.
